FAQ
Do you use a Christian curriculum?
The simple answer is no. We incorporate Christian ethics into the daily care of your children. All classes say grace before snack, and we practice the Biblical Christmas and Easter stories.
Are you a special needs preschool?
We are not a special needs preschool. Our curriculum is designed to be hands-on and interactive, which accommodates many learning styles; however, we do not have the staff to provide in-depth special education support. We will make reasonable accommodations for students and welcome Speech, OT, and PT providers. If we discover that a child has needs that make it difficult for them to fully participate in our program or that significantly affect the learning environment for others, we may recommend a special education evaluation to ensure they receive the support they deserve. If parents do not follow through with our recommendation for evaluation and/or we determine that our program is not the best fit for the child’s well‑being and growth, we may need to end his/her enrollment.
Does my child need to be potty trained to attend?
2 and 3 year olds do not need to be potty trained. We work alongside each family to assist your child in their training. UPK/4s students should be consistently able to use the bathroom independently.
Do I need to provide a snack for my child?
No. To ensure all snacks are safe for all children, allergy-safe snacks are provided for all classes. We are a nut-free facility. Children are asked to bring a reusable water bottle
daily.
daily.
Does my child have to be vaccinated to attend?
According to New York State policy, any child attending any child care facility must be vaccinated or following a doctor-approved vaccination schedule.
What holidays do you observe?
RSG follows the Brockport Central School District Calendar with noted exceptions. We like to have fun and have small celebrations for most holidays. When Brockport CSD classes are canceled due to weather emergencies or local/natural disasters, we will be closed. Please tune into WHAM13, our Facebook page, and the Remind app for announcements.
School Closing Information
1. If Brockport Central Schools are closed due to weather, we will also be closed. If BCS is delayed one hour, we will be delayed one hour. If BCS is delayed 2 or more hours, we will be closed. Our closings will be posted on 13WHAM-TV.
2. If the weather is poor and BCS does not close, the preschool may still close. Check out 13WHAM-TV and check for a Remind message from your child's teacher. The Director will also send out an email to notify you. Please let us know if you would like to add another email to our current listing.
3. Please be very careful on sidewalks and in the parking lot. Even though we plow and salt, the walkways may be slippery.
4. Please be sure that the Preschool office has current home and cell phone numbers. It is critical that the school is able to reach you in case of any emergency or child illness.
5. During the winter months, weather permitting, teachers may take children outside. Please dress your child appropriately for outside play. The teachers may ask that you bring in snow pants/suits as well.
